MOI (pronounced m-o-y) has announced the launch of The Listening Room,  inspired by the hidden dens of Tokyo and Shinjuku, the bar is an intimate 40-cover space blending vinyl music, eclectic drinks and low-intervention wines, with small plates and sushi.

Situated on the lower ground floor of MOI, the Japanese-inspired restaurant which opened mid-summer on Wardour Street, The Listening Room offers a lounge-style setting for a unique late-night experience in Soho. Open Tuesdays through to Sundays, with live DJs over the weekends.

Designed for music lovers and night owls alike, the space houses a world-class sound system from London-based audio specialists, Friendly Pressure. Guests can expect a carefully curated programme of music-led events, including vinyl residencies, one-off takeovers, and a rotating line-up of London’s up-and-coming DJs.

The Listening Room’s Soho Sessions will provide a space for those in the hospitality industry from across the city to congregate and build a shared community. This industry evening will see chefs and bar staff take over the music programme, showcasing their passion for live music at The Listening Room.

Guests can indulge in a dedicated menu which showcases MOI’s hand-crafted sushi, along with showstopping skewers and small plates from the restaurant’s menu, including Tempura Lobster Claw, Tuna Trio Nigiri, Cornish Mackerel with Grated Ox Heart & Tomato and Blue Fin Tuna Onigiri with White Soy, and Cured Yolk.

The Listening Room also features MOI’s extensive cocktail, wine and sake lists, led by Dino Koletsas with low intervention and biodynamic wines from small scale winemakers. MOI’s cocktails take on progressive techniques and unusual flavour combinations based around fun storytelling to provide a truly unique experience as you dance into the night. Highlights include:

  • Them Apples. Refreshing, bright, appley. Sparkling green tea, whisky, tomato liqueur, and marigold.
  • Floregano Punch. Rejuvenating, tropical, herbaceous. Pineapple, oregano, Bolivian grape spirit and lime.
  • Head in the Clouds. Intriguing, cloudy, nuanced. British rose aperitif, cloudy sake, nasturtium

Upcoming live DJ lineups are announced weekly via The Listening Room’s Instagram page here

Table reservations can be made for The Listening Room from Thursday to Saturday, 6pm-12pm, although there will always be tables left for walk-ins on the night.
