Bridal Lashes: Everything You Need to Know About False Eyelashes for Your Wedding Day

Bridal Lashes

False eyelashes and lash extensions are the perfect cherry on top for any special occasion – a holiday, birthday and especially your wedding day.

International lash trainer at leading lash brand, Nouveau Lashes, Debbie Law, considers bridal lashes the ultimate wedding day essential.

What are the benefits of having lash extensions for your wedding?

Debbie explains: “As well as the aesthetic benefits of having lash extensions done for your big day, lash extensions can make a person’s eyes appear larger and more awake. Whether you’re planning on going au naturel beauty or all out glam, extensions can elevate your lashes to enhance your makeup, putting your eyes centre stage.

“They also provide an extra confidence boost for all those moments that will be captured on camera.”

How long before the wedding should a bride have her eyelash extensions fitted?

“You want your eyelashes to look as prim and proper as possible on the big day, so make sure to get the treatment ideally just a few days before the wedding. This will also give you a chance to get used to the feeling of the lashes, which can only be a good thing when it comes to the occasion.”

Should a bride have an eyelash extension trial before her wedding day?

“If the bride is new to extensions, I would recommend they come in for a set 2-3 weeks beforehand to determine the look and so they can see how they get on with them. If they like them then they will only need an infill a few days before the big day!

“Lash extensions are not a one look fits all treatment, for best results they need to be tailored to the person. For a bride especially, it is important to take the time to understand her style on the day, is she going all out glamour, chic, boho… this will determine the lash style I would recommend. Lash extensions should complement a look, not dominate it.”

How long will lash extensions last for?

“Lash extensions can last up to 8 weeks with proper aftercare and maintenance. They are a great investment that will see a bride through the rehearsal dinner, big day, honeymoon and beyond!”

“Another option for clients that love a natural look and want a low maintenance, I recommend an LVL lash lift treatment, as it’s fuss free and lasts 6-8 weeks, making it perfect for the honeymoon and beyond, using just the a Conditioning Serum to maintain and condition for healthy lashes”.

What about wedding skincare?

“The first thing to think about when planning your wedding day makeup and lashes is prepping the skin. For any make-up artist, the key to a flawless finish is a good base, and this starts with skincare. I advise my clients to prep their skin with a good exfoliator to eliminate any dead surface skin cells.

“I recommend a Dermatude enzymatic peel once or twice a week for this as the treatment is not too harsh and doesn’t scratch the skin. Hydration is also super important, no one wants to look dry and dull, especially on their wedding day. I recommend Dermatude Active Hydra Booster moisturiser daily as a base; it’s nice and light and suits any skin type.”
