Getting Married in Cyprus

Cyprus has been named the most popular destination for couples to get married abroad this year.

New research(1) has revealed Cyprus as the top destination for couples getting married abroad in 2025, with the most popular wedding spots being Ayia Napa, Paphos and Protaras.

Destination wedding specialists, The Wedding Travel Company, analysed internal booking data(1) from the past three years to reveal key habits and trends for weddings abroad in 2025 and beyond.

Cyprus was named the top destination based on it receiving the highest number of bookings for weddings in 2025. According to the data, Cyprus has also seen a 24% increase in bookings over the past year.

The data revealed the average cost of a wedding in Cyprus is £7,967.46, making it a more affordable option in comparison to other top European wedding destinations such as Spain (£11,547.85), Italy (£10,884.61) and Malta (£9,838.67).

Mandy Nash, Product Manager at The Wedding Travel Company says:  “Cyprus has so much to offer and is a beautiful wedding destination. It’s known for its sunny climate and stunning coastlines and enjoys mild temperatures all year round. Couples will be pleased to hear that Cyprus is also an affordable option, with plenty of quaint venue options available.

“I’d recommend planning your wedding between April and June or September and November as this is when the weather is most comfortable and it tends to be less busy.”

If you’re looking for the perfect Cyprus wedding destination, Mandy shares a handy travel guide on the most popular locations:

Best for a vibrant atmosphere – Ayia Napa

Located at the far eastern end of the southern coast, Ayia Napa (sometimes referred to as Ayia Napa) is a popular town for those looking to let their hair down, due to its fantastic nightlife scene. However, it also has a quieter and more refined area.

Mandy says: “Ayia Napa is a great location to host your wedding, particularly if you’re looking to extend the celebrations and party with your friends and family. There are lots of activities and places to explore on the doorstep so guests can stay longer and make the most of their holiday.

“Ayia Napa has plenty of venue options, from beautiful hotel resorts to romantic beachfront locations, making it great for both small and large ceremonies.”

Best for a romantic setting  –  Paphos

Paphos is situated on the south-west coast of Cyprus and is a city full of Cypriot charm. The area is most famous for its cultural heritage and Roman mosaics. According to Greek mythology, Paphos is also the birthplace of the Greek goddess of love and beauty, Aphrodite.

“Due to its cultural significance, Paphos is perhaps the most romantic location to get married in Cyprus. Couples can enjoy a relaxed atmosphere whilst being surrounded by spectacular architecture and scenery,” says Mandy.

“Paphos has plenty to do and see for those who want to fill their time with activities and exploration, whilst offering lots of opportunities to relax and unwind. Couples will be made to feel extra special when booking with one of the grand hotels that sit along the coast.”

Best for a casual beach wedding – Protaras

Located on the east coast of Cyprus is the small town of Protaras. Surrounded by beautiful sandy beaches and crystal clear waters, Protaras is a dream come true for couples planning a relaxed wedding on the beach.

Mandy comments: “Protaras is a tranquil paradise, with gorgeous scenery as far as the eye can see. It’s well known for its beaches, particularly Fig Tree Bay which is often referred to as one of the best beaches in the world.

“If you’re looking for a laid-back atmosphere, where you can enjoy a barefoot stroll down the beach, look no further than Protaras. Ceremonies in this gorgeous beach town will feel perfectly intimate.”
