5 Pro Photography Tips to Try This National Camera Day

We’re all taking more photos than ever, but taking great photos can be a tricky task, whether it’s getting the right angle or keeping focus.

In fact, 45% of Brits find it difficult to take photos of others and their surroundings and almost half (47%) have asked someone else to take the photo because they didn’t trust their own skills.

Ahead of National Camera Day on Sunday 29th June, Europe’s leading photo company CEWE has revealed its top tips to help Brits gain confidence behind the camera.

With most (84%) taking photos and feeling disheartened with their skills, the brand has shared their top photography tips.

Top five photo-taking tips:

  1. Use the golden ratio rule: “A good tip to improve your photos is to use the rule of thirds. Divide the frame into nine rectangles using a grid feature on your phone and place key elements along the lines or intersections.”
  1. Highlight action-inducing features: “Particularly when shooting people, look for a shot that will elicit a response, for example it could be a puddle that they need to jump over or walk around.”
  1. Use leading lines: “Look for natural lines in your environment such as roads, paths, fences or rivers to guide the viewers eye and direct attention to the main subject of the image. This will add more depth and movement to the photo.
  1. Experiment with different perspectives: “Shooting from different perspectives such as from the side, below or above will add interest to your photos. Or get close to your subject to eliminate distractions and focus attention on key details.”
  1. Use elements to help frame the photos: “Elements in your environment such as windows, arches and trees are great tools for creating a visual frame around your subject, helping draw attention to it and add depth.”
