Crodino: Summer drinking goes non-alcoholic

The latest stats from Crodino (the Italian Non-Alcoholic Aperitivo) found that two alcoholic drinks have been voted as the ideal number to enjoy at social gatherings in the sun.

The Non-Alcoholic Aperitivo will be serving up FREE Crodino from a series of trikes in locations all around the capital on the1st,2nd,8th, and 9th of July. Even better, it will be served on ice with a slice of orange – to keep cool in the sun.

The pilgrimage to the park is synonymous with a British summer and, for adults, it’s also a popular occasion for drinking in the sunshine. However, new research by Crodino, the Italian Non-Alcoholic Aperitivo, has found that two thirds (63%) of Brits want to be more mindful of their alcohol consumption, with two alcoholic drinks voted as the ideal number to enjoy at social gatherings in the sun. On average, this is two less than people revealed typically drinking last summer. 

The poll of 2,000 adults by Crodino shows the trend for sober curiosity and mindful drinking is spreading across the nation. Brits are re-defining their summer social drinking habits; with 63% wanting to avoid over-consumption of alcohol, and 35% saying they will enjoy summer socialising with a more flexible approach – 43% of which will turn to alcohol-free alternatives to moderate their drinking at summer gatherings. 

The top summer social occasions that Brits plan to moderate their drinking habits around include BBQs (38%), alfresco dining with friends and family (27%), and even trips to beer gardens and outdoor bars (25%). Cost also came up as a significant factor as to why some are looking to have a more mindful approach to drinking this summer, with 34% viewing it as the perfect opportunity for more cost-effective get-togethers and a further third (39%) not drinking as much because of the cost of alcohol.  

To help those wanting to embrace a more flexible approach to drinking, Crodino is launching its Na’lfresco Guide, a collection of the best hotspots around London to enjoy alfresco gatherings.  At selected times, Crodino will be handing out complimentary servings of the Italian Non-Alcoholic Aperitivo – the refreshingly bittersweet aperitivo, served over ice with a slice of orange – straight from the Crodino Trike at 20 popular locations around the capital. Voted for by Londoners, the guide features sought-after outdoor locations that offer something special – from hidden gems like Horniman Park, to the best spots for alfresco dining with a view such as Greenwich Park. 

This summer looks set to see many continue to explore alcohol-free beverages, as 62% believe they have found “a sweet spot with the amount of alcohol they drink and having a good time without any repercussions”. This is despite more than a third (36%) of respondents admitting that historically they drink more during the summer months than any other time of year.  

Moreover, the Crodino research shows the positive benefits of a flexible lifestyle, with 54% stating they expect to enjoy summer more because of being more conscious of their drinking habits.
