How to Harness the Power of Positive Affirmations

positive Affirmations

To take control of your emotions, try harnessing the power of positive affirmations. This can be something as simple as telling yourself ‘I am confident or ‘I am happy and grateful.

Not only can these statements work towards boosting your self-esteem, but they can also help you manifest your deepest desires.

Here, we will take a look at how you can implement positive affirmations in your own life and those around you.

How to introduce affirmations into your life
Here are two positive affirmation methods to start the day the sunny side up.

Meditation
It’s no secret that meditating has a whole host of benefits. To get the most out of each session, you can include your chosen positive affirmations.

The process is simple. First, your body has to be positioned in the right way. Your spine should be straight, your chin should be tucked down, and your eyes should be closed. Make sure you’re breathing through your nose and out of your mouth.

Then you can take 25 breaths, calming your senses and stimulating your parasympathetic nervous system. This will help you to harmonise your brain hemisphere, which is another way of saying that your brain’s creative and logical sides will be balanced.

During this exercise, recite your chosen affirmations while you breathe out of your mouth. You might start to see images in your mind. Focus on depictions of your affirmation, such as your goals and desires, allowing any negative images to come and go.

Your affirmation meditation session can last anywhere between 20 minutes or 108 breaths, known as one full mala. So try to understand what works best with your schedule.

Mirror work
Mirror work is a simple and effective way to include positive affirmations in your life. It might seem a little strange to speak to yourself in the mirror, but this exercise can help you overcome insecurities, heal your inner child, and become self-assured.

Moun D’Simone, a mediation instructor, encourages people to adopt this approach. They believe that this mindful exercise can help overcome self-judgment and negativity:

“I felt this deeper connection with myself by being in front of a mirror and looking at myself, my face, my body, and just embracing, loving, and uncovering a deeper sense of kindness.”

How to include other people in your affirmation journey
Once you’ve experienced the benefits of positive affirmations, you can spread a little joy in the lives of your loved ones. Here are a few examples of how to do it.

Send a good morning text message
A good morning text is an easy way to remind your friends and family how much they mean to you. You can use this to communicate your own feelings, such as ‘we are great friends’ or ‘we will have the most beautiful year together’. This is guaranteed to put a smile on their faces, so why not try?

Create a personalised card
Text messages are great, but it’s unlikely to make a lasting impact. Cards, on the other hand, are a better way to make a more lasting impression on your nearest and dearest. Gabriella Peace, Communications Manager at UK Greetings, has loaned their wisdom on the power of greeting cards:

“Greeting cards are more than pieces of paper. They can be personalised to include heart-warming affirmations, extending the love you’re gaining for yourself towards those around you. They can also be cherished and kept for years to come.

Our insights, gathered as a greeting card supplier, tell us that cards significantly contribute to making people feel better about themselves. They’re the perfect opportunity to gift positive affirmations, putting a smile on the faces of your friends and family.

The design of your card can make just as much of an impact. There are countless mindful designs displaying uplifting messages. A card that reads ‘having you as a friend means good times and great laughs’ is sure to make them smile!

Host an affirmation party with your loved ones
Last and certainly not least, you can host an affirmation party with your loved ones. This doesn’t have to be a large affair. You can simply enjoy a morning, afternoon, or evening together, sharing your favourite positive affirmations. There’s nothing more special than spending time around those who are uplifting, after all.
