Emily Blount, Head of Product at swimwear specialists Lounge shares what’s popular this season for hen dos and how best we can style these looks:
“With Vogue naming sky blue as a colour of the season for SS24, blue swimwear has seen a massive surge in popularity with 9,900 monthly Google searches. It seems to be the colour of the summer for many of us with celebs from Kylie Jenner, to Olivia Rodrigo and Sabrina Carpenter have been spotted rocking the colour in recent months.
“Not only can blue be paired with a range of clashing colours and look amazing, it’s one of the rare colours that suits everyone, all skin tones and hair colours, making it super universal.
“We’re seeing customers continue to opt for swimwear with blue highlights, with ‘blue’ swimwear outperforming other colours this summer.”
1 in 3 hens will choose to head abroad, with Spain and Portugal as the destinations of choice for 2024. When it comes to styling this on trend colour for a hen do, Emily shares:
“Blue is perfect for pairing with neutral shades of white, beige or grey making it a versatile colour – perhaps why it’s had a surge in popularity. If you want your blue swimwear to be the main event, pair it with an oversized white linen shirt and beige straw beach bag for a relaxed yet pretty look. To elevate the beach vibes opt for wavy styled hair and jewellery in the shape of seashells.
“Alternatively, you can let blue play the supporting role and pair with even brighter colours. Complimentary colours are those at the opposite end of the colour wheel, so the colours you might be unsure on, could actually look great with your blue swimwear. Opt for a bright lipstick for a day at the beach club, or a pink sarong for a stroll along the beach to create an eye-catching, yet glamorous look.
