With this in mind, the experts at Kent Motorhome Company, Choose Leisure, have uncovered the best counties for dog-friendly motorhome holidays. To do so, they combined the number of pet-friendly motorhome sites, average nightly prices and user ratings to reveal an overall rating for each county.
The experts at Choose Leisure commented: “More owners than ever are prioritising pet-friendly getaways, and we’ve seen a real shift toward holidays that allow the whole family, including furry friends, to explore the UK together. Traveling on the road offers a practical and flexible solution, giving dog owners the freedom to travel comfortably without compromising on their pets’ needs.”

With an impressive average rating of 9.44/10, Staffordshire tops the list thanks to its balance of affordability (average median of £50 per night) and dog-friendly hospitality across 23 sites. Home to scenic walks in Cannock Chase and historic towns, it’s a firm favourite for four-legged explorers.
Despite having only eight dog-friendly sites, Northamptonshire shines through with a high average rating of 9.34 and strong amenities. Its central location and peaceful countryside make it a hidden gem for motorhome travellers with pets.
Offering the highest number of dog-friendly motorhome sites (62), Shropshire combines variety with value, boasting a 9.31 average rating and a £70 median nightly cost. From the Shropshire Hills to charming market towns, there’s plenty for dogs and their humans to enjoy.
Known for its rugged coastline and ancient castles, Northumberland is another strong contender hosting an average rank of 9.22 with 29 high-rated sites and an average median mid-range price point of £64. Its dog-friendly beaches and wide-open landscapes are ideal for off-lead adventures.
Rounding out the top five is Suffolk with a total average rating of 9.19, offering 42 well-reviewed sites at an affordable average median price of £62. With picturesque villages, dog-welcoming pubs, and scenic coastal walks, it’s a relaxing escape for pet-loving road-trippers.
