As Christmas approaches, it means we’re closer to a new year. For many, this marks a time for change – setting fitness goals, learning new skills, or, for some, embarking on the journey of moving to a new home.
Howells shares tips on how to make the move a slick experience:
- Book a removals van – by doing this in advance this will take a huge weight off your shoulders.
- Collect storage boxes – ask family and friends to lend you extra cardboard boxes they have hanging around so you can start to pack items that you don’t use every day.
- Christmas shopping – get this out of the way earlier will take the pressure off and means you will be ready to spread festive cheer on Christmas Day knowing you were prepared.
- Keep some things to the side – anything you use regularly, this could include cutlery, tableware and bathroom items, keep these out as you don’t want to be dipping into boxes every time you cook or shower.
- Child and pet care – moving house at any time of year can be stressful, the alleviate this, ask your loved ones if they could look after your children and/or pets while you sort things out at your new home.
Mick Fallon, at Howells Solicitors said: “As the festive period gets busier for everyone, it’s crucial to plan ahead. Minimising stress is key, and this can start with decluttering your home.
“Moving during the holiday season can indeed present challenges, making planning and prioritisation essential.
“If any last-minute concerns arise, don’t hesitate to reach out to your solicitor for guidance. However, it’s worth noting that during the festive period, businesses may change their hours.
“Most importantly, after the upheaval, ensure you take the time to celebrate the holidays with loved ones while savouring the joys of your new home.”
