Opened this November, Six Senses Southern Dunes, The Red Sea is a tranquil oasis in the heart of the desert. Blending the ancient with the modern, the experts behind the spa have built unique and personalised programmes that combine state-of-the-art modern technology and ancient healing traditions with alternative therapies, holistic spa treatments, and wellness activities immersed in the nature that surrounds them.
The combination of serene golden-hued desert surroundings and the tailored wellness programmes on offer allow guests to reconnect with themselves and truly unwind in a luxurious safe haven. The 3,974 square-metre Six Senses Spa reflects the Saudi Arabian landscape, bringing the outdoors in with interiors inspired by the sandy tones of the dunes. The upper floor has a state-of-the-art gym and fitness suite with panoramic views of the desert. The lower floor is home to the treatment rooms and wet area, which feature self-shaded water surfaces and deep cold pools for a refreshing escape from the heat.
Highlights of the Six Senses Spa include a Holistic Anti-Aging Centre, a sensory suite with a meditation dome, outdoor treatment cabanas with relaxation areas and a pool bar. Local Arabic influences are incorporated into the wellness journey with desert sand treatments and signature traditional Hammam rituals to relax, revive, re-energise and restore balance.
The spa itself is laced with notes of frankincense that nod to the region’s incense heritage. Frankincense is obtained from Boswellia trees, native to Saudi Arabia, and can be used to improve respiratory function, reduce stress levels, induce relaxation and improve skin health. Guests can learn from experts how to make clean skincare products in Alchemy Bar workshops, using the rich spices and fragrances and ingredients that the Nabateans traded.

High Tech – Biohacking Recovery Lounge
At Six Senses, smart technology is used to understand the specific needs of each individual and determine ways to optimise the body’s natural processes. In the spa’s Biohacking Recovery Lounge, guests are offered biohacking treatments, skin analysis and a general wellness screening, so they can receive intel on what’s going on inside their body, and a roadmap to their ideal health.
To top it all off, those who visit the spa for treatment will all receive a post-programme follow-up to give them the inspiration to stay in the driving seat of their wellness once they’re back home.
Hammam Treatments
Hammam, also known as the Turkish hamam or Turkish bath, is the Middle Eastern variant of a steam bath, originating in Arabia, and soaring in popularity in the UK as a luxury cleansing and relaxing treatment.
Six Senses Southern Dunes offers three different Hammam treatments within the spa, including exfoliation with date seeds, a luxurious steam bath topped with precious gold body oil, and an invigorating deep cleanse to nourish the skin.
Alchemy Bar Workshops
Guests can create bespoke products using traditional clean skincare ingredients in expert-guided alchemy bar workshops. These workshops introduce guests to the rich spices and fragrances that the Nabateans traded, and allows them to take a part of their trip home with them.
