Since their official launch in April 2024, Astrea London has become the leading name in ethically-crafted jewellery with their exclusive collection of lab-grown sustainable diamonds. Trail blazing a revolution in the diamond industry, Astrea can create everything from timeless pieces to bespoke couture masterpieces, as recently seen on the red carpet.  Combining beautiful innovation with sustainability, the line offers consumers high-quality, eco-conscious alternatives to mined diamonds, certified to the Type II and Type IIa categories, as they redefine the high-end diamond industry for the modern age.

Only the top 1-2% of the world’s mined diamonds qualify for this level of brilliance and purity. Astrea bespoke statement creations are so ambitious and complex that crafting them from mined stones would be almost impossible.

Named after the Greek goddess of justice, innocence, purity and precision and adorned by the likes of supermodel Coco Rocha on the red carpet for the Cannes Film Festival, Founders Claire Ferrini and Nathalie Morrison have created a brand that has already become the primary source for contemporary finery and the go-to name of lab-grown diamonds.

With their legitimacy confirmed by the FTC (The Official Federal Trade Commission) in 2018 as identical in properties to mined diamonds, not synthetic, all of Astrea London’s colourless diamonds are D, E and F certified, making them the only company in the world today solely offering stones equivalent in quality to the top 1% of mined stones globally.

The diamond industry is undergoing significant changes, spurred by increasing awareness and evolving consumer preferences. With this, laboratory-grown diamonds are gaining a lot of traction, constituting already 18.4% of the global market *Source: Nothing Lasts Forever, Netflix. Nathalie Morrison says:

We believe that even by 2035, lab-grown stones will be leading the way for exceptional jewellery. Astrea London is committed to merging classic beauty with the innovation of our time, offering pieces that reflect the values of today’s conscious consumers without compromising on style or substance.”

Their premium stones are grown by a team of scientists using technology that mimics the natural diamond formation process, producing stones that diamond experts and gemologists are unable to tell apart from their mined counterparts. Utilising either high-pressure, high-temperature (HPHT) or chemical vapor deposition (CVD) methods, using a seed of mined diamond, conditions are recreated in which the jewels form beneath the Earth’s surface, producing diamonds over two to four weeks that are identical to mined ones in terms of physical and chemical properties.  The result is a stunning series of collections, significantly more affordable and completely ethically traceable.

The Eternal Collection includes elegant and superior sustainable diamond pieces; tennis bracelets, stud earrings, and eternity rings, designed for everyday style, while The L’Amour Collection boasts an exclusive offering of timeless engagement rings and men’s jewellery. Astrea London is also the only brand offering a bespoke service, where their clientele can design their own stones to create a truly singular gem with no limitation on carat quality.

Astrea London’s approach not only reduces the environmental footprint but also offers a more transparent sourcing process, with their traceability and transparency providing peace of mind to those looking for socially conscious, 100% conflict-free luxury. Their rising market value is also enhancing their investment potential, with consumer attitudes veering towards responsible purchasing in the light of matters including environmental degradation and labour concerns.

Claire Ferrini says “Astrea London brings a new dimension to the idea of luxury jewellery. Our customers enjoy the same stunning beauty and elegance of natural diamonds, knowing they are making a more sustainable choice.”

Taking inspiration from Claire’s grandmother, who gifted her with a lab-grown diamond trilogy pendant over 30 years ago and firmly believed in their ethical positioning, Claire and Nathalie developed their passion for the timeless jewels into a forerunning brand that has led the way since its inception.

Pieces begin at £2000. The collections are available exclusively through Astrea London’s online store and official boutiques; France’s 6-star palace, Villa La Coste and Fairmont Windsor Park, October 2024.
