THEY SAY YOU CAN’T PUT A PRICE ON HAPPINESS, WELL ACCORDING TO NEW RESEARCH YOU CAN – AND IT’S A COOL £4,428,942
Researchers asked the nation how much money they would need to have in their bank account to be truly happy, with an average lump sum of nearly £4.5 million (£4,428,942) emerging as the magic number, according to the 2,000 Brits surveyed.
And with 58 percent of the nation admitting they struggle to keep on top of their finances, the survey also revealed a host of hypothetical situations Brits would consider for a mega bucks pay day.
According to the study, a lump sum of £6,356,256 would be enough to get us in the water for a nerve-wracking swim with a hungry Great White shark.
Other weird, strange, and downright dangerous things we would do for cash included, eat the world’s hottest chilli (£3,217,735), change your name to Donald Trump by deed poll (£5,059,359) go one round with an angry Oleksandr Usyk (£4,659,777) or marry a complete stranger (£5,260,994).
The study commissioned by investment platform IG Invest, also discovered Brits would be prepared to not see or talk to their partner for a whole year for £6,669,315.
And according to the data, Brits would want an eye watering £10,818,871 to take part in a life-or-death style reality TV show.
A spokesperson for IG Invest said: “With as many as 58 percent of the nation admitting they find keeping on top of their finances tough, it’s no surprise that many of us would consider doing some risky things, for a chance to win big.
“However, it’s time we conquered money anxiety and stopped playing games with our finances. We have created the brand-new IG Invest app to streamline the process of investing, empowering users to grow their wealth. We’ve quite simply never made it easier or more efficient than through the free to download new app.”
In fact, 65 percent of the adults polled would feel more comfortable investing if it was as simple as downloading an app.
As many as one in three (32 percent) daydream every day about winning a large sum of cash, with 41 percent admitting they would consider doing something silly or dangerous in a bid to get rich quick.
While 42 percent admit they spend a lot of time talking to their partner about what life would be like if they had a fortune in the bank.
Despite this, 27 percent feel that money ultimately can’t buy happiness, while 52 percent said money makes life less stressful.
