The Landmark London opens new Great Central Pub by Matt Fletcher

Chef de Cuisine Matt Fletcher, has returned to The Landmark London to launch and take the helm of the Great Central Pub by Matt Fletcher – previously Great Central Bar & Restaurant.

Marrying the old with the new and honouring the original design, with interiors paying homage to the romantic era of travel, Great Central Pub by Matt Fletcher will retain unique characteristics such as the oak-panelled walls and richly historic atmosphere. Matt’s influence showcases a fresh design perspective, stripping back the previous bar and restaurant’s corporate feel, with soft furnishings and modern art, adding character to the space and creating a welcoming, friendly and relaxed drinking and dining experience, whilst maintaining The Landmark’s quality service.

A gastropub from the core, Great Central Pub is a new more relaxed concept for The Landmark London, already well-established for its cocktails and fine dining in the palm tree adorned Winter Garden. Matt’s menus will offer comforting old pub classics with a modern twist and focus more on locally sourced beers and a refined wine list, to be enjoyed in a warm ambience designed to evoke long conversations on the sofas by the open fireplace, in a cosy corner, or over dinner on the high tables. Chef de Cuisine Matt Fletcher plans to take seasonal ingredients on a culinary journey, turning fresh produce from local suppliers into hearty signature British pub food.

Great Central Pub by Matt Fletcher will offer hotel guests and locals affordable and flavoursome, home-style cooked British dishes and bar snacks. Matt’s Snack Menu will include comfort food favourites such as a Scotch Egg with Piccalilli and Sticky Honey Mustard Pork Belly Bites, through to a more substantial Pub Classics Menu featuring a signature Rare Seared Steak Sandwich on Tiger Breadwith hot horseradish, onion jam and watercress, or a ‘Posh’ Fish Finger Butty, made with lemon sole goujons, lettuce, aioli, pickles & dill. Additionally, guests will be charmed by the warm familiarity of home from home favourites such as Bangers ‘n’ MashBeer Battered Market British Fish and hand cooked chips, and classic Steak and Ale Pie.

The drinks menu will showcase locally sourced London beers and ales and a considered global wine list, that will complement the menu offering. Expect pours from Beavertown, Mad Squirrel and Chiltern Brewery with new breweries to be rotated in to give guests a varied offering. Whilst quality craft beer, ale and quality wines will be the focal point, Great Central Pub by Matt Fletcher will serve carefully crafted cocktails, mocktails, coffee and speciality coffee.

Fergus Stewart, General Manager at The Landmark Londoncomments: It’s great for us to welcome Matt back to the kitchens at the hotel, but this time in his own establishment, which I know will be a fantastic addition to the property. Great Central Pub is set to be a standout destination and I can’t wait to see how Matt transforms the space and offers another more relaxed alternative place for our guests to drink and dine.”

Great Central Pub by Matt Fletcher is the newest addition to The Landmark London’s dining destinations. Matt will establish the gastropub as a welcoming, warm and quality venue offering top-tier food and beverage, whilst being conveniently located next to Marylebone Train Station. The pub itself will pride itself on showcasing live sport, as well as a regular programme of events and live music – ideal for hotel guests, tourists and Marylebone locals looking for somewhere to spend their evening.

Located on the Basement level within The Landmark London, Great Central Pub by Matt Fletcher also has its own destination street-level entrance on Great Central Street, Marylebone.
