Having launched the Accessibility Hub on the Tropical North Queensland website a year ago, operators in the region have evolved their accessible options in this 2023 Year of Accessible Tourism.

Quicksilver Dive in Port Douglas has become the first PADI Adaptive Service Facility in Queensland – the only facility of its kind on the Great Barrier Reef to hold this accreditation. Opened in 2018, Quicksilver Dive’s state-of-the-art diver training centre is now one of only four facilities in Australia with this accreditation. In addition, Quicksilver’s multi-award-winning Great Barrier Reef cruise takes travellers to a spacious activity platform at the renowned Agincourt Reef, a jewel-like ribbon reef with spectacular coral formations, myriad of marine life and clear outer reef waters. A semi-submarine and underwater observatory allow all passengers to view from below and learn with passionate marine biologists.

Nearby in Port Douglas, the beaches of Palm Cove and Four Mile Beach have beach wheelchairs available, while Jungle Tours offers an unforgettable experience for all nature lovers in Daintree Rainforest and Mossman Gorge. From an indigenous smoking ceremony and rainforest walks, to waterhole swimming and a reef trip, they have an accessible adventure for everyone.

The award-winning Wildlife Habitat provides visitors with a chance to experience the wildlife of Wetlands, Rainforest, Savannah, Nocturnal and Woodlands environments in an open and interactive setting.
