The best locations for your summer break

We might currently be experiencing frosty mornings, but why should that stop you from planning your summer breaks for 2023?

With plans for schools to break up for their UK summer holidays at the end of July, ready for a return at the start of September, this leaves you with many dates to choose from to book a staycation for all the family – but where’s best to go?

Luckily for you, we’ve gathered a few of our favourite UK destinations that could be the perfect backdrop to your summer break away as a family.

Scroll down to read on and potentially find your summer destination!

Cornwall

Could we start with anywhere else on our list, other than Cornwall? Known for its picturesque towns and views, with beaches voted the best in the world, and being the surf capital of the United Kingdom – could Cornwall be the place to be in summer 2023?

Cornwall is a county full to the brim with historical places to visit, such as Tintagel Castle and St Michael’s Mount, and immersive nature locations such as The Eden Project and The Lost Gardens of Heligan.

As well as this, it also offers tasty traditional, Cornish food and drinks. But who could forget the coastline attractions? – such as the rolling waves of the Atlantic Ocean, crashing onto the beach, making it one of the best places in the world to ride a wave or two!

Wales

How about escaping to the land of the Welsh dragon? It’s known for producing legendary singers and actors, as well as being the backdrop to many much-loved television shows such as Gavin and Stacey and Doctor Who, just to name two. Could the Welsh lands be the feature location to your summer 2023 highlights?

Not only is Wales known for its rolling hills and national parks, and its iconic filming locations, but it also has a coastline that offers sandy beach days for all. It’s perfect for any sandcastle enthusiast in the family – as well as rockier areas too, perfect for rockpool explorations.

Why not also take a bite of a famous Welsh Cake whilst you’re there too?

Isle of Wight

Just a ferry stop away, is an island filled to the brim with natural beauty, iconic spots, nature-filled walks, the perfect stargazing spots and so much more ready and waiting to discover.

Whether you fancy a spot of sailing whilst away or just a day at the beach, the Isle of Wight is known for its long stretches of beaches – some are even award-winning! If it’s a spot of stargazing with your other half that you’re looking for, the island has some great locations, perfect for a night under the stars.

Not forgetting the little ones – there’s lots on the island to keep them entertained, including Monkey Haven, Tapnell Farm Park, Robin Hill, Sandham Gardens and, of course, the land of imagination that is – Blackgang Chine – the oldest amusement park in the UK!

Will any of the locations above be the setting for your summer break?
