From today, Tuesday 17 May, together with Champagne Laurent-PerrierThe Savoy will burst into flower.

For two fragrant weeks, the impressive Front Hall will grow shoots and blossom into a charming secret garden. Echoing the wildflower theme of the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, the installation will feature mainly native plants and flowers, in particular the forget-me-not.

It will be photogenic and interactive, with a wooden swing and a path leading to the hotel’s celebrated American Bar. There, guests will be able to enjoy a specially created Laurent-Perrier cocktail; the Forget-Me-Not. Bringing together Portobello Road Gin, Cocchi Americano, Benedictine, and English Flower Syrup, then topped with a generous splash of Laurent-Perrier La Cuvée, this refreshing cocktail evokes the atmosphere of an English spring garden.

Should visitors require a little more sustenance than just cocktails this spring, then The Savoy’s award-winning afternoon tea is perfectly complemented by a chilled glass of Laurent-Perrier Cuvée Rosé, with its elegant red fruit flavours.

LONDON – MARCH 7: Outside view of Savoy hotel, Britain’s first luxury hotel in central London, opened in 1889 and closed in 2007 for renovations and reopened in Oct 2010, on March 7, 2014, London, UK.

The Forget-Me-Not Garden is also a celebration and recognition of the importance of biodiversity and sustainability. As producers of fine champagne, Laurent-Perrier has a great respect for nature and is a patron of conservation charity Plantlife, while The Savoy has pioneered the use of ecoSPIRITS totes, a revolutionary transport and storage system that reduces the carbon emissions of cocktails by 80%.

What’s more, for every Forget-Me-Not cocktail sipped, The Savoy will plant a tree in an Asian reforestation programme; adding to over 2000 trees already planted since the ecoSPIRITS partnership began in July 2021. And, after Chelsea Flower Show ends, the plants used in the installation will be donated to local primary school, Soho Parish School, for the children of the nearby community to enjoy and learn from.

Champagne Laurent-Perrier Background

Originally founded in 1812, the House of Laurent-Perrier has been defined by its pioneering role in innovating champagne throughout its history. Internationally recognised as one of the foremost names in champagne, its success can be attributed to a deliberate policy of challenging conventional techniques, whilst honouring traditional values: a respect for nature and the terroir above all, a passion for quality, and strong, lasting relationships.

The Savoy

The Laurent-Perrier portfolio consists of eight champagnes including Grand Siècle, which was originally launched in 1959 and blends three outstanding vintages to recreate the perfect year. In 2018, Laurent-Perrier celebrated half a century of its Cuvée Rosé – the original “modern” rosé champagne – which was born in 1968 by defying conventions and using innovative wine making techniques. The brand’s innovative spirit continues into the present day, with the recent launch of its latest champagne, a Blanc de Blancs Brut Nature.

Laurent-Perrier’s success must also be attributed to the energy of the de Nonancourt family, headed by the late Bernard de Nonancourt, who assumed control in 1948. Working in a demanding business environment, Bernard preserved the independence of his champagne house and its related values, taking the house from one of hundreds to its current position as one of the region’s leading houses. These same principles guide the current management team led by his two daughters, Stéphanie Meneux de Nonancourt and Alexandra Pereyre de Nonancourt.

Additionally, as growers and producers of fine Champagne wines, Laurent-Perrier is committed to ceasing all practices or actions which may irremediably damage the environment. This pledge is translated and put into action in all activities, showing a continual respect for the environment and natural resources. The House’s long- term policy in grape growing and wine elaboration is based on sustainable methods.
