The luxurious Turkish hideaway Hillside Beach Club welcomes back guests to the ‘London Jazz in the Sun’ annual event presented by the EFG London Jazz Festival for another year. Running from the 1st-4th October 2023, Hillside Beach Club is set to offer a weekend filled with live concerts, including jazz extraordinaries and a variety of musical workshops, all whilst overlooking the serene natural beauty of Fethiye, Turkey. Guests at the property will be immersed in music through drumming lessons, jazz yoga and live performances whilst relaxing on the beach or on the resort’s private gulet surrounded by crystal-clear waters.  

An annual event forming part of Hillside Beach Club’s compelling list of yearly activities and showcases, this is one of many jazz events that this five-star retreat will have in store for guests. EFG London Jazz Festival is the capital’s biggest pan-city music festival in Europe and deemed the highlight of the jazz calendar in the UK, acclaimed for showcasing an impressive mix of talent from around the world.

Exclusive concerts 

This four-day festival brings together jazz fanatics to watch and learn from some of the most exciting names in the industry. The event kicks off with a live concert by Sophie Faith,  a jazz and soul singer and songwriter from London who will perform overlooking the sparkling Turkish waters at Pasha Bar. Visitors will also be able to experience a Night Tunes session with China Moses, an American singer and radio broadcaster for JazzFM. The third day of the festival holds a very highly-anticipated concert on Hillside’s privately owned boat for a sunset session around Kalemya Bay with Komodo Horns, a dynamic trio playing the saxophone, trumpet and trombone.  The final night features a late-night concert by YolanDa Brown OBE, an award-winning saxophonist, broadcaster and author. YolanDa has recently been awarded an OBE for her services to music and music education, and is one of the most high-profile characters on the London jazz scene.  

Musical workshops 

Those looking to exercise their own musical flair are invited to get involved in exclusive musical workshops taught by the experts themselves. Music enthusiasts and beginners alike can get involved in a drumming workshop with Abbas Dodoo, a professional musician, performer and music teacher who will be bringing the upbeat African drumming style to a new audience. After the workshop, keen musicians will have the chance to flaunt their new skills at the drumming performance at the end of the festival. New for this year, visitors can also try out an African Dance workshop withFrench Nana, a dance star and specialist in choreography and movement coaching. Guests can learn some new moves to show off at one of the many DJ shows and concerts throughout the week. For a more relaxed activity, visitors can head to the Silent Beach for a quiet morning trying a unique Jazz Yoga class overlooking the tranquil turquoise bay.

Alongside these exciting and unique music-filled experiences, visitors at Hillside Beach Club can spend their days taking part in a wide range of other activities, such as art classes, volleyball competitions, relaxing bike rides around the surrounding area or enjoying Hillside’s exciting selection of water sports such as water skiing, wakeboarding, or scuba diving.
